Welcome to Dan's Hiking Pages: Hikes in the San Gabriels and Beyond!
My name is Dan Simpson. I love to hike and to help others enjoy the sport! Since I live in Azusa, California, at the mouth of the San Gabriel Canyon, the San Gabriel Mountains / Angeles National Forest is my primary hiking venue. Since I launched Dan’s Hiking Pages in May 2003, it's been my pleasure to help thousands of hikers venture into the San Gabriels and beyond.
The heart of this website are write-ups for more than 80 hikes, mostly in the San Gabriel Mountains, but some also in Griffith Park, the Verdugo Mountains, Joshua Tree National Park, and Oahu, Hawaii. I also present a guide to waterfalls. In my write-ups, I endeavor to provide clarity, accuracy, and completeness in order to give hikers the confidence that they can use my descriptions to hike safely, enjoyably, and successfully.
My hiking blog primarily offers narratives of my various hikes while providing links back to the hike descriptions. My hiking Facebook community page provides a space to interact with other hikers and outdoor lovers and to get notifications on updates to my hiking website and blog, as well as events, news, forest closures, volunteer opportunities, and more.
I have greatly valued meeting many hikers, both electronically and on the trail, who have expressed appreciation for Dan's Hiking Pages and Blog. I am gratified that I can help others to be enriched by venturing into the great outdoors and soaking in its beauty. Happy hiking!
