San Bernardino National Forest

View southeast - Precipitous slopes drop sharply into the canyons to the south.
Peeking through the haze on the horizon stand the Southlands two highest summits: San Gorgonio Mt. (11,499') and San Jacinto Peak (10,804') (Mt. Baldy is the third highest at 10,064').
Oddly, the San Gabriel Mountain range has been artificially split up between the Angeles National Forest and the San Bernardino National Forest. Our silly government uses the county line for the demarcation rather than the logical topographic boundary of the Cajon Pass.
